The 2021 Sovereign Asian Art Prize
The 2021 Sovereign Asian Art Prize presented the public of Hong Kong with two free exhibitions in the heart of the city, displaying the shortlisted artworks from 30 midcareer contemporary artists living and working in countries across the Asia-Pacific region. Despite this year’s difficult circumstances, the Finalists Exhibition and auction raised over HK$1 million for artists and our charitable projects for children in desperate need across Asia. The Nguyen Art Foundation is very proud to be one of the donors that contributed to this fund.
First held at 9 Queen’s Road Central, the Finalists Exhibition welcomed members of the public to visit, enjoy and engage with the artworks. The exhibition was presented together with a rich educational program, in collaboration with K11 Art Foundation. In place of a live auction and gala dinner, small-scale wine tastings, lunches, and dinners were held in the space.
The exhibition then relocated to Art Central Hong Kong, gaining exposure to over 25,000 visitors and a fresh pool of art collectors.
The nominating board consists of 83 independent arts professionals from around the Asia Pacific region including Vietnam, all of whom volunteer their time to nominate artists they believe to be deserving of wider recognition.
