Do Thanh Lang

Oil, acrylic, epoxy resin on canvas

120 x 120 cm

With thin, overlapping fields of color, Do Thanh Lang flattens the perspective in his work, blending the background into the foreground and intentionally removing visual depth. Yet, a different sense of depth is created by transparent PVC sheets that cover the canvas, often resulting in the casting of paint shadows onto the surface below. The viewer is lured into a world that extends into the canvas, but the artist makes clear that we exist in a different dimension, unable to engage or partake. The electric scenes painted by Do Thanh Lang blend reality and illusion, following not the principles of the convergence point, but the random rhythms of the artist’s body.
