Dam Dang Lai

Dam Dang Lai (b. 1973, Vietnam) studied Painting and Sculpture at Hue University College of Arts; after his graduation in 2000, he moved to Japan where he currently lives and work. Lai’s approach to sculpture has been likened to a game where forms, materials and styles are constantly shifting, transforming, or being reassembled. Though his works share an identical core structure and undergo the same process of construction, in their manifold variations they hint at endless creative possibilities. Lai allows his sculptures to change and interact with the landscape that make up their surroundings, be it an open field, a lake, or within the space of a gallery. His works have been widely exhibited in Vietnam, and further afield in Asia and Europe.
