Keisuke Matsuura
Keisuke Matsuura (b. 1970, Japan) moved to Germany in 1997 to study at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he earned a Master’s degree. His works stand out for how they embrace natural forces such as wind, gravity, magnetism, and air vibrations, and treat them as collaborators in the shape-forming process. A single line or a small mark is a trace of the power of nature, and embodies the tension that arises between order and chance.
Matsuura’s works have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Germany and the Netherlands; and various group shows such as structures of the infinite space, Galerie Clara Maria Seles, Germany, 2025; MINIMAL REDUCTIVE, Five Walls Gallery, Australia, 2025; Global Art Project, France, Mexico, Germany, 2024; Tage der Kunst – AQUA 2023, Germany, 2023; Resonance: Walter Leblanc – Keisuke Matsuura, Walter Leblanc Foundation, Belgium, 2021; amongst others. Currently based in Düsseldorf, he continues to present his works in a variety of settings, ranging from gallery and museum exhibitions to large outdoor installations.
