Pham Ha Hai

Pham Ha Hai (b. 1974, Vietnam) is a Hanoi-born artist whose practice is rooted in a rich family tradition of artmaking. He began painting at a young age alongside his brother, renowned artist Pham An Hai. Through his work, Pham Ha Hai explores the dialogue between lived experience and cultural consciousness, seeking to capture the emotional and sensorial dimensions of abstraction. His curiosity extends beyond painting, encompassing sculpture, ceramics, folk music, and costume-making, though his current focus is on acrylic on canvas.

Pham Ha Hai’s first solo exhibition, Land & Human (Salon Natasha, Hanoi, 1998), brought together painting, sculpture, and installation. Over the past three decades, he has exhibited widely in Vietnam and internationally. Selected exhibitions include Tet Art 2023 (Hanoi Studio Gallery, Hanoi, 2023); Phon (Bat Trang Ceramic Artspace, Hanoi, 2022); Stories Told in Art Ceramics (Hanoi Studio Gallery, Hanoi, 2021); New York Art Fair (New York, USA, 2021); New Day Returns (Hanoi Studio Gallery, Hanoi, 2020); The Art Journey (Vietnam Art House, The Netherlands, 2019); The Foliage 2 (VCCA, Hanoi, 2018); Vietnam Beauties: A Modern Perspective 4 (Vietnam Art House, The Netherlands, 2017); Seoul World Art Exhibition (Seoul, Korea, 2002); and Singapore Art Fair (Singapore, 2001)
