Tran Tuan
Tran Tuan (b. 1981, Vietnam) graduated from Hue University of Art in 2006 with a degree in Traditional Decoration. Not confining his art to a single category or medium, he practices in an interdisciplinary manner, allowing the subject and context of the work to guide his approach. His artistic concerns revolve around the human condition and stories of marginalized and vulnerable communities affected by the rapid socio-economic stratification of contemporary Vietnam.
Tran Tuan has participated in the artist-in-residence programs at San Art Laboratory (2015) and Sapporo, Japan (2019). In 2019, he was invited as a visiting lecturer in the Multidisciplinary Art Department, Faculty of Fine Art at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. Tran Tuan is the founder and director of Then Café art space and Lang Art Dorm, an artist residency program in Hue.
