Origins: An Immigrant’s Journey in America

What is it like to live as an Asian woman in America? Through short stories, essays, and poems, the author shares the intimate details of her initial journey as an immigrant at the age of twelve from Vietnam to the United States, as well as the fun, and often confusing, events she experienced. Ultimately, Origins: An Immigrant’s Journey in America will help you be more empathetic towards victims of discrimination and violence and gain a better understanding of the personal emotions of the victims involved.

Nguyen Dan Thy (Thy Nguyen) is a Vietnamese-American and first-generation immigrant— originally born in Saigon, Vietnam and later moving to Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in business from Babson College, with a concentration in entrepreneurship.

Thy has always been drawn to the arts and expression, and is especially interested in writing. Over the years, she has developed a passion for social change for marginalized groups, especially as it relates to those experiencing racial microaggressions and discrimination. Thy wants to create a vehicle for others to feel included, understood, and supported.
