Circulations #7
Lena Bui’s cross-disciplinary practice explores the intricate interconnectedness between humans, nature, and the nonhuman world, celebrating the symbiotic relationships that bind all life forms. Working across diverse materials, she brings together dynamic imagery of human anatomy, flora, celestial bodies, and portals, interwoven with patterns evocative of blood vessels, energy pathways, tree roots, and fungal networks.
Her wool paintings Cosmos no. 1 and Cosmos no. 2 draw from various knowledge systems and medical traditions, inviting viewers to reconsider how the human body functions, heals, and connects with broader ecological and spiritual dimensions. Cosmos no. 1 illustrates the lymphatic and immune systems, tracing the flow of lymph and heart-related acupressure points against a backdrop resembling skin tissue. Meanwhile, Cosmos no. 2 maps the body’s electrical patterns and meridian system, layered over imagery reminiscent of DNA sequencing. Through these works, the artist reflects on the cycles of decay, transformation, and renewal that shape all lives on Earth.
