In her two-dimensional works, Diem Phung Thi creates geometric arrangements based on her modular alphabet. The structuring of these recurring figures constitutes a form of personal calligraphy. It is a fluid visual language that runs through the whole of her work, testifying to a sensitivity to the rhythm and vibration of surfaces. The artist transforms the tumult of sometimes painful memories linked to Vietnamese history into a constellation of gestures and colours. A spiritual dimension is also present, suggested by the harmony of the elements and the balance of the compositions. These works offer the eye silent, almost meditative narratives – healing spaces. They are a language of resilience, a tool of resistance and emancipation.
