There is no mercy left. DEMONS REVENGE is the 4th edition of Fatal & Fallen. Returning to Elizabeth Gabrielle Lee and Jade Meili Barget’s critical inquiry on retribution, the program investigates vengeance as it evolves beyond the anthro-sphere towards the inhumane. Informed by concepts of the environmental gothic, rage as currency, and popular tropes of ‘nature-takes-revenge’, the program delves into retribution turned demonic. Operating beyond human constraints, the program frames revenge as a force that exceeds the self, asserting its autonomous agency.
DEMONS REVENGE consists of a lecture performance by Elizabeth Gabrielle Lee and Jade Meili Barget in collaboration with musician C3LINA, artist Nhi Đi Tu, and designer Azura Lovisa. The presentation salvages scraps of unworlding: dashcam footage, TikTok trends, atmospheric recordings and clips from revenge films. The lecture performance envisions retribution as a radical act of dissolution and an aspirational form of transgression.
DEMONS REVENGE is accompanied by a film program featuring works from Arlette Quynh-Anh Tran, Bassam Issa Al-Sabah & Jennifer Mehigan, and Jason Hendrik Hansma. Expect numinous environmental takebacks, less-than-human blows, and god-like wreckages. It’s demon time!
