Exhibition tour and artist talk with Nguyen Phuong Linh

Nguyen Phuong Linh’s body of work Trùng mù – Endless, Sightless’ forms the cornerstone of the exhibition The year is XXXX. Evoking the diverse climates and terrains of the Central Highlands, the work leads viewers on a journey through “strange lands”, retracing the footsteps of bacteriologist and explorer Alexandre Yersin during the colonial years. Veiled in mist, the Highlands appear only in fragments – an allegory of vision itself – compelling us to question our own ways of seeing and perceiving a landscape that remains both geographically and symbolically distant.

The exhibition tour and artist talk with Nguyen Phuong Linh invite audiences to hear directly from the artist about her research project and the making process, as well as how she manipulates materials to reconstruct the symbols of the “endless, sightless” land. Beneath the theoretical framework, Phuong Linh engages her materials through an intimate, bodily approach, which was then deeply discussed in the talk.
